Bitbuy Hires New Head Of Regulatory Affairs And CCO

Bitbuy is proud to announce the hiring of Torstein Braaten, as our new Head of Regulatory Affairs and Chief Compliance Officer.



This executive role will have an emphasis on legal, regulatory and operational compliance.

Torstein will work closely with Canadian regulators to move Bitbuy towards registration with Canadian Securities Administrators and IIROC as a dealer and marketplace.  He will also oversee other areas of compliance within the company.

Torstein was previously the COO and CCO at Instinet Canada and Instinet Canada Cross, a firm that focuses on trading global markets, operating venues and data analytics solutions for institutional investors.

Prior to Instinent, Torstein was the CCO at BMO Capital Markets, and CEO and CCO at TriAct Canada Marketplace.

Torstein has served as a member of the Ontario Securities Commission Fintech Advisory Committee and currently a member of IIROC’s Crypto-Asset Working Group.

Overall, Torstein has 3 decades of experience in compliance, risk management and capital markets.
