Steve Aoki and Todd McFarlane to Launch NFT Marketplace

Grammy-nominated DJ Steve Aoki and comic book creator Todd McFarlane partnered to launch a new NFT marketplace called “OddKey.”

In an interview with Blockworks, Aoki explains OddKey is “designed to empower creators to showcase and sell authenticated digital art.”

McFarlane adds, “This isn’t about Steve and Todd. The big victory here is us opening up that opportunity to other creators and giving them the exact same opportunity that we are giving ourselves. Steve and I are in total agreement that we know we will have succeeded when we become irrelevant to our [marketplace.] There’s going to be so much talent [in OddKey.] There will be so many other [great] artists they’ll go, ‘Yeah, Steve had a nice run. Todd had a nice run, but they’re the old guys, right?  That’s a victory.”

To spur excitement around the new marketplace, McFarlane will be auctioning original Spawn artwork as NFTs.

Aoki predicts that when looking at future generations, less and fewer people want the physical.

“Kids from 10 to 20, are living in their own metaverse,” he explains.  “They’d rather spend that 20 bucks buying something like an outfit they’re wearing in Fortnight, than spend 20 bucks for a t-shirt that they’re going to wear to school.”

NFT Artist of The Week: Amanda Osioway

One of the renowned Canadian artists who recently grabbed headlines for stepping into the NFT art world is Amanda Osioway.

The Manitoba country girl went from making bales to NFT art.  Osioway’s background in health and wellness allows her to create masterpieces that tell a beautiful life-changing story.

Osioway suffered from mental distress for many years, and it was the paintbrush that helped her to attain a positive outlook of things. She has also been a counsellor for many years and over time, she has experienced the immense power of art in soothing a distressed mind.
